It means a lot coming from another animal lover.I am much richer for having known him, as e taught me about unconditional love, a lesson we humans can never get too much instruction on.

No need to thank me for the book review. It's well worth every superlative I can attach to it. My only regret about you writing it, if you want to call it a regret, is that since it is SO comprehensive, it almost literally leaves "no room" for subsequent authors, like myself, and other, to add to the conversation! LOL! Once tge definitive answer has been given, anything additional just becomes a faint echo at best, or yammering noise at worse!Elgin Subwaysurfer Bollinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17814674628882541222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34972514.post-58398449771211414322012-02-04T12:08:17.060-08:002012-02-04T12:08:17.060-08:00Elgin- I came here to thank you for the awesome vi...Elgin- I came here to thank you for the awesome video review of my book you posted, and then got my heart broken reading this tribute to Butchie Dog.

I have a 2 year old lhasa poo, and he has become my best buddy. Anna and the kids bought him while I was out of the country because they had some misguided idea I didn't like dogs. They even named him "Dr. Watson" to endear him to me (I'm a Sherlockian). Anna is the one that didn't like dogs. I love dogs, and now Dr. Watson is "my" dog. I walk him, I take care of him, he's my buddy. Like Thomas said, dogs love unconditionally, and they also depend on us in a way that makes humans get great fulfillment for providing the little dogs demand. We become as dependent on those acts of providing as the dogs are on what we give them... shelter, food, out time and affection. They are like having kids, but without the part of the kids growing up and becoming independent from us. That is a different kind of heart breakāa good kind, but still tough in some ways.

The only downside is that dogs don't live long enough in good health. They become part of your life and steal your heart, and then nature takes them away after too short a time on earth. I'm already dreading the day I have to say goodbye to Dr. Watson, and with luck that is at least a decade away.

It made me very sad to hear you lost your friend. Take solace in the fact they you both made each other's lives richer, and that it sounds like he had as good a life as any dog can ask for... which too many dogs don't get.Tom Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17694909156240353486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34972514.post-89998973114218465602012-02-02T21:36:16.190-08:002012-02-02T21:36:16.190-08:00So very sorry to learn of your Butche's passin...So very sorry to learn of your Butche's passing. Condolences to you and others in your family who will undoubtedly miss him. Dogs become--emotionally--as present any other family member. They love unconditionally, are nonjudgmental and remain that way for as long as they stay on the earth with us. When they move on, as they must, we lose a true friend indeed. Wishing you better days ahead.Tom Kerrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16861693592107866833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34972514.post-12101049193158669992012-02-02T13:51:56.768-08:002012-02-02T13:51:56.768-08:00I'm so sorry for your loss, Elgin.
