Man on subway with the cool mustache

Struck up a conversation with this man who had a cool mustache while waiting for the train. We spoke fr about forty minutes about the weather, all the real estate going up in The Rocaways, and of course, hs cool mustache, which started the whole conversation to begin with. I drew the understjetch using a red china marker, inked it with a Pitt artist brush pen, threw it in the ole iPad and added the finishing touches in Art studio using the art brush tool.

Long chinned female subway rider.

Saw this feel commuter with a chin sooooo looooooong that she could probably take your eye out if she hit you with it. I've never seen a chin formation quite like that on the female f our species, and it just goes to show you that youllnever know what you'll see in the concrete jungle. Her face was so interesting that I had to draw her face from two angles.

I drew both pictures using a red china marker, inked it wit a black Pitt artists pen, and put the finishing touches with the airbrush tool found in Art Studio for iPad.

SUBWAY CARICATURE DRAWINGS ON DOWNTOWN A TRAIN

Man, I was SOOOOOOO Hyped from the days events at the Comic Con, and Drink and Draw At Dempseys Bar that i could NOT turn OFF! LOL! I started caricaturing everything in sigh practically on the return trip home! LOL! Here are some of the best pics.  It felt good to go old skool again, not using the ipad but good old reliable pen and ink, and also pencil. I used a Tombo Brush Pen, and a Number Two Pencil  to put these together.

obviously , this is the Pencil Drawing. The gentlemen I was drawing was so dignified and Dapper, he actually called for a pencil treatment. He realized what I was doing and patiently posed and smiled for me. I wanted to give him the caricature, but before i could finish the hair, he arrived at his stop and was gone.

He Had GREAT Hair But Did NOT want to be Caricatured!!! LOL! He kept turning his head, changing his position and GLARING at me! LOL! He kinda reminded me of 1950's strongman, Steve Reeves, From those Hercules Flicks waaaaay Back in the day..

This Guy was from out of town, on his way to JFK at Howard Beach, heading back home to parts unknown. He had this look on his face that said, "HI, ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE"

I Recently posted this on the ART JUMBLE Blog. The Subject this week was "GIRLS" and while most of the artists displayed the usual bevy of curvaceous big booty cuties with bodacious breasts, as usual, I saw things through the fun house mirror of my own caricature lens.

I can think of nothing more boring than drawing a ugh.. so called, "Beautiful Girl" at least as dictated by Madison Ave standards. As a caricature artist I truly find beauty in the off beat and out of the ordinary. When I ride the Subway trains of this great metropolitan city we call the BIG APPLE I never cease to be mesmerized by the endless varieties of faces, the odd conflagrations, the physical proof of unlikely pairing of Male Female union that produces the outstanding faces that continue to appear on my sketchpad, and live in my imagination.

Give me a Goofy Gurl to draw ANY DAY on the SUBWAY! I consider THAT a FUNDAY!! Draw a "pretty girl/" NO WAY!

Subway Caricature of man who looks like moby dick by subwaysurfer

Theres something in the construction of this guys face that was sort of "whale like". I nick named him "Moby Dick " as I drew him It helps to do that to sometimes get in the right comic mood. I also colored this on the train using a new method for laying down color that I recently learned from Chris Collins. The result looks more life like in my opinion.

But the color combination ...it does look kinda like....raw meat.

Buxom Beauty and China Doll line drawings on the subway

Had fun with these two. At the risk of sounding cliched,"sometimes you just need to know where to draw the line" LITERALLY, in my case! Reaching into my Hirschfeld roots, I went for pure line quality, using Pitt artist brush pens and Tombo brush pens, on the China Doll, and using a crayola marker for the Buxom Beauty with the curly locks,and big Betty Davis Eyes. I wanted these to have a lively, spontaneous quality, so I drew these two ladies as fast as I could. No pre draw, no net. In the subway folks move so fast, you have to be very decisive regarding where your line is going to be. This can sometimes be a terrifying experience for artists who like to be perfectionists.

I find that simple line drawing caricatures like this are perfect to use as social media avatars, or logos. They are elegant, and classy. Please contact me so that I can ake one fr you. Prices are very reasonable.

30 second caricature!

Spent the day yesterday with Cincinnatti Caricature Speedster, Adam Pate, Master of the 30 second caricature technique.I took Adam for a ride on the NYC Subway where we did some subwaysurfing sketching, and showed him the sights. I got an opportunity to put my new skills to the test today at my gig and on the train. here are the results!!
