Hate to use an old cliche, but it was the best one ever!... er, until next year, at least! LOTS of great art as usual, too much to tell right now as I've just gotten back.I got a chance to be drawn by Glen Ferguesen, one of my caricature heroes and an unbelievable airbursh artist and exaggerator!

LOOOOOONNNNGGGGG Bus Ride

I did a doggie gig at PETCO in Staten Island which had the LOOOOOONGEST bus ride ever!!!! I must have rode for at least an hour and a half. Good thing i had a lotta drawing paper and a supply of uglee faces....

He SEEMED like he liked it...

Well he WAS smiling when he took this picture, yet left without the caricature....

The guy in the Baseball cap actually rejected his caricature! i thought it was mild on the exaggeration, but apparently he was offended by the teeth.

colin harris 1st try

Did a quick caricature of fellow NCN artist, Colin Harris. Colin has "one of those faces" that caricature exaggerators LOVE to attack and I couldnt wait to draw him! As sometimes happens when you get TOO excited about a face, I got a "good" picture, but in my mind the likeness, even though Im exaggerating, is somewhat off. This will be a work in progress until I get it right.

Had this "hater" stop at my stand and absolutely REFUSED to get drawn and just hung around while my partner drew other people. SHe thought that if she kept showing me her profile that i wouldnt be able to draw her somehow... she was WRONG!! heh, heh....
My friend, ALison, who was also drawwing, just laughed.. She's the blond.

30 DAYS

This is one of the pictures from my upcoming book, "30 DAYS" The concept of the book focuses qround me teaching myself extreme exaggeration using my favorite subject, namely,ME. For 3o days I stretch squash and humiliate myself in an effort to learn this caricature artform and in the process gain self esteem and insight. A MUST read, if I say so myself...

Convention is coming...

Starbucks sketch

Did this sketch based on a description given to me by a friend sitting at the same table. I wwas shocked when the guy she was describing actually walked by. Up till then I didnt know he was in the same room.

Pushing my exaggeration button....

As the NCN yearly convention draws near...( I hope I can go) I've been making a concentrated effort to really push my exaggeration button and "go for the jungular" on my exaggerations. The results have been liberating hilarious and scarey! I cant wait to see what I'll come up with next! here's a few goodies...

ME ...again

Here's another self caricature of me from my ongoing series that ive been keeping up for a coule of months... namely, to draw myseld everyday. This exercise has forced me to stretch the limits of my caricature ability and ive come up with some pretty cool renditions of myself.

Its One in the morning, now, I have a caricature gig very early tommorrow that i have to get up for at 5am , and yet I could NOT REST until I drew this picture... so... here it is! Will do Glenn later... gotta sleep!

Fellow caricature artist, Alison Gelbman at www.caricatureexpress.com surprised me this morning by dropping this caricature painting of me into my mailbox! This is the first time Alison has done a painted caricature and the results are awesome! What makes it more incredible is that she is also a student of mine which means I will have to "up my game" now to keep up with HER!

He didnt LIKE being drawn... but too BAD!!

The funniest thing about subwaysurf sketching is watching, and hearing the reactions of people. Some folks laugh, others smile, other walk away totally, or bury their faces behind papers and magazines, and some get MAD and "pretend" to ignore me, but you can literally FEEL the "you're invading my privacy, and I want to punch you out vibe" take this guy, for instance, I caught him on a Queens bound R train, and i was originally drawing him from the front view. As soon as he saw me drawing him, he kept rotating his face from side to side in a lame effort to throw me off! LOL! It turned out that his side view was even more hilarious than his front view, so I kept "encouraging him" to "look away" by insensely staring at him.

Glenn Fergeson, a brilliant caricature artist and member of the NCN, recently posted this picture of him and his gurlfriend that he caricatured magnificently. He encouraged the other members to try their hand at caricaturing her, and well, here's where I get started.

no major exaggerations here, just having a little fun at my gig today. This gig was done through one of my agents at Havin' A party located in Canarsie Brooklyn on Ave L. I liked these best...which means that im a lousy photographer, and out of the pictures I took, these came out the best.
